Industry Liaison and Innovation (ILI) is your key to research commercialization and collaboration success. Industry Liaison and Innovation commercializes research at Dalhousie University , manages and facilitates collaborations between companies and university researchers and assists in the creation of spin-off ventures. Dalhousie researchers regularly generate a range of new inventions and technologies, which may be licensed to local or global company partners. ILI assesses new technologies, manages intellectual property protection, markets, negotiates and licenses technology to corporate partners. In addition ILI is responsible for managing ongoing relationships with corporate partners and generating new ones. ILI is also responsible for material transfer (MTA), confidential disclosure agreements (CDA) and other agreements involving intellectual property. ILI can assist researchers and companies to ensure that adequate protection and controls are in place to meet legal and ethical requirements on all projects. ILI also helps companies to find and develop relationships with researchers to meet business requirements and to expand the researchers' potential to participate in cutting edge projects. Small companies may be able to take advantage of programs available at Dalhousie to fund small research inquires. Larger companies can work with ILI to tailor programs and initiatives that meet their research and development needs. A number of funding initiatives may be available for joint industry - university projects with both large and small companies.
